Arrived safely in Namibia!
Everyone gathered at Heathrow in good time for our South African Airways flight. We departed from Terminal One and could therefore see first hand all the work going on at the nearby rebuilding of Terminal Two. It looks impressive. Our flight departure gate at Terminal One was a long walk from check-in so we were all fit by the time we arrived! South African Airways in flight service and food was good and the flight itself was very comfortable. Despite taking off late from Heathrow due to flight congestion we landed in Johannesburg on time, Thursday morning, Here we enjoy another long walk (!) through the terminals to connect to our onward flight to Windhoek. Passengers on this flight include local Namibians heading home, South Africans going on holiday, and a selection of tourists including us and also a group of 13 Chinese photographic enthusiasts. They are here to take photos and that's what they do. Throughout the flight! The gentleman next to Richard takes a photo of the inflight magazine and a photo of his lunch. Richard simply eats it (the lunch, not the magazine). On arriving at Windhoek Airport we clear immigration and our local guide and driver are waiting to greet us. We're soon heading for the city and our hotel, the Windhoek Country Club Resort. We settle in and enjoy a good rest. Early evening, Richard and Dawn welcome everyone to a holiday briefing before we all enjoy a wonderful buffet dinner in the hotel's Kokerboom Restaurant. And then it's early to bed, after all we're on the road at 7.30am tomorrow!!
