Today we visited La Mitad del Mundo - the "middle of the earth". Situated north of Quito this National landmark marks the location of the Equator Line. The pyramid shape monument is topped by a globe 4.5 metres in diameter and weighing 5 tons. The building also contains a small ethnographical museum. Outside almost everyone wishes to have a photo taken standing on the Equator line - which is conveniently painted bright yellow. 10 minutes up the road we've arranged lunch at El Crater Restaurant which overlooks the Pululahua Volcano. The views from here are tremendous.
Back at the hotel we enjoy a local dance group perform some typical Ecuadorian dances in traditional costumes. Another sumptuous dinner buffet follows. There's no going hungry on this tour.
