After our long flight from London Heathrow we land in Buenos Aires to begin our adventure. Our two local guides, Val and Carla greet us, and our first stop in town is the Cafe de los Angelito. This is Richard's and Dawn's favourite coffee stop! Delicious cakes and freshly home-made croissants are served, complete with a choice of tea and freshly brewed coffee, Argentinian style! Following our refreshment break, we continue our city tour. We pass by the iconic Casa Rosada Presidential Palace on Plaza de Mayo, walk along Caminito Street in the colourful La Boca district, and drive along the 9th July Avenue, pass the Obelisco Tower. Of course, no Buenos Aires city tour would be complete wthout visiting the Recoleta Cemetery to see the mausoleum where Eva Peron is buried. Our guides bring Evita's story to life, and we seem to gain a few other tourists who attempt to join our group and listen in. Richard and Dawn keep guard!
Around lunchtime we arrive at our 5-star accommodation, the MADERO HOTEL, which is ideally situated in the fashionable Puerto Madero Waterfront district. We enjoy a prompt check-in and head off to our bedrooms for a well-earned rest. A light box lunch is ready waiting for each guest in the bedrooms!
This evening we all get together for a welcome dinner in the hotel's Montmartre private banquet room on the top floor. The views are spectacular. The food is wonderful. The complimentary wine is pretty good too!
