Another late start. We’re not going far today so we need not rush. Early starts from tomorrow onwards, however! Today, we continue along the tarmac road for about one hour, and arrive in the busy town of Outjo. The new Outjo Bakery is OPEN. We’re greeted on arrival and the staff tell us all about the new facility and, most importantly, the menu! The building is spacious inside and the food is tasty, and inexpensive. Good marks on Trip Advisor please.
The “Images of Africa” souvenir shop does well here too.
From Outjo we head north and enter Etosha National Park via the Anderssons Gate. Within a few yards we are enjoying our first Etosha wildlife. Impala, zebra, wildebeest, warthog and giraffe – not bad for the first waterhole.
Our destination is the Namibian Wildlife Resorts camp at Okaukuejo. Staff are waiting for us with nice cold drinks, and we’ve soon distributed keys and we’re heading off to settle in. The waterhole here is excellent, and we head off to watch the parade of wildlife. After dinner it becomes a rhino show! At one point, 5 or 6 rhino, all around the waterhole, plus umpteen giraffes.
