We did as the locals do!
Yet again, a choice of things to do! After another wonderful breakfast, some of our guests joined local art historian Susan Steer for a privately escorted tour to the famous Gallery of Arts. Needless to say, a simply magical time was enjoyed by all.
Other guests took river taxis to the Rialto Market, for a "do as the locals do" tour. Cesar, our ship chef, guided us to some of his favourite food stalls and explained how he selects the best ingredients for the meals we enjoy on board. Shopping bags were filled with fresh tomatoes, rocket lettuce, courgette flowers, octopus, prawns, and more. Later, after some free time, we met up at a wine cafe near the Grand Canal to enjoy a glass of wine and some tasty snacks, before we returned to the River Countess.
During lunch on board, our captain treated us to an afternoon sailing around the lagoon. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and more prosecco was served on the sun deck. What a wonderful afternoon. Sailing back along the beautiful skyline of the city will be a memory we hold for quite some time.
Our captain's farewell reception and dinner is scheduled this evening, and we have plenty of freetime tomorrow morning, so we've arranged some private river taxis for an exclusive sail along the Grand Canal!
