An early and misty start to our journey. We are driving from the hotel back to Heho Airport and fortunately the mist lifts before our flight takes off. We land back into Yangon and have some free time until our early evening flight home. Our original Yangon guides, Michael and Harry greet us and we drive into the city for lunch. On the way we make a quick stop outside the house of Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese opposition politician. She was placed under house arrest in this house from 1989 to 2010. We couldn’t see much, there are high gates and fences, but our local guides are very proud and passionate, so the visit is a must!
Lunch is at a restaurant beside a pretty lake and we are seated at one long table. The food is excellent and we enjoy a leisurely meal and some free time before joining our coaches for the last time as we head back to Yangon Airport.
Farewell to Burma, to bustling Yangon, our beautiful ship RV Ananda, the picturesque Inle Lake and, above all, Burma’s wonderful people.
Happy memories everyone!
