South Plazas

Added 27 Nov 2014

We visit South Plaza this morning. South and North Plaza Islands are as a result of a geological uplift. Our path was once the ocean floor! Our ciruclar route includes a section parallel to a cliff top where the updraft attracts numerous seabirds. The main reason we visit South Plaza, however, is to see the endemic Galapagos land iguana and we are fortunate to see many.

Back on board the Islander we enjoy lunch while sailing to the island of Santa Fe. Some of us enjoy a siesta while others join a kayak outing or enjoy snorkeling in the bay. Later we all land on Santa Fe for an afternoon walk. We are hoping to see the endemic Santa Fe land iguana (not the same species as this morning) and we are successful!
