South to Okonjima
We were planning to leave Namutoni at 8am this morning but we got a tip-off two leopards were at the Klein Okevi waterhole, so we rushed aboard and drove out of the camp a few minutes early. Sadly the leopards were gone by the time we got there but at least we were on the road early! And we were rewarded by seeing two Darama dik-dik, one of the smallest antelopes in the world.
We exited Etosha National Park at the Von Lindquist Gate and drove south via Tsumeb. In the busy town of Otjiwarongo we raided the local Super Spar for some lunch provisions. From here we continued south to Okonjima, our home for our last three nights. On driving through the Okonjima entrance, Warthogs are amongst the first thing we see and they seem to fascinate everyone! We have to stop and take photos of every warthog family.
Arriving at Okonjima Plains Camp we are greeted by the staff and local guides and we walk into the new “barn” for welcome drinks followed by afternoon tea and cake. There is no doubt we are going to enjoy oursellves here!
