Towards Etosha

No early morning call today. Plenty of time to enjoy the lovely setting of Mopane Lodge before our late morning departure along the C39 road to Outjo. We time our arrival in Outjo for a lunch break. Our regular café over the years has been the Outjo Bakery but it is closed due to a rebuild so we pop across the road to the Farmhouse Café. The nearby souvenir shops do good trade during our lunch hour too!

From Outjo we head north along the C38 towards Etosha National Park. It’s not long before we arrive at Andersson’s Gate to complete formalities. What’s the first animal we’ll see? We have a quick vote and, on this occasion, those that chose a zebra win the prize. Black faced impala and Springbok are spotted next. After a visit to the Ombika waterhole we continue north to Okaukuejo, our home for the next couple of nights.  The camp staff are ready waiting for us with a welcome fruit cocktail. Room keys are distributed and everyone heads off to settle in, before visiting the famous Okaukuejo waterhole for the first time. We are not disappointed! Elephants!! And after dinner, we see rhino and giraffe!!
