Snowy Arctic Capital

Added 13 Feb 2015

After an early morning stop at Harstad we continue north and sail pass Trondenes Church, which dates from 1250. We make a quick stop in Finnsnes but our main visit today is to the Arctic Capital of Tromso, northern Norway's largest city with approximately 70,000 inhabitants. We dock in the centre of the city and are greeted by a snowy blizzard! Ship guests are heading in varous directions, some joining a husky dog adventure, some a city tour and others just ging for a stroll. The Furlongs crew take a walk through town via a statue of Amundsen, the church and city library. Our destination is the Polar Museum. Tromso has been a centre for polar research and exploration for many years and the museum is run by the local university to celebrate its polar connections. It is well worth a visit. We sail tongith towards Hammerfest and Havoysund. More choppy seas! Hold tight.
