Wine in Windhoek
We landed on schedule at Windhoek Airport this afternoon. We had given our guests the appropriate immigration forms in advance so we were able to proceed through formalities without delay and were soon picking our bags off the one and only luggage carousel. Richard and Dawn escorted our group pass customs and avoided the customary bag scanning. All highly efficient!
Our local guide, Uanee, was ready and waiting for us. It has turned chilly since our visit last month so Uanee is wearing the "Furlongs Travel" fleece to keep warm.
Our coach driver, August, was also ready and we are soon packed up and on our way to Namibia's capital city, Windhoek. On the way we spot numerous babboons on the road side. Our first wildlife encounter and we have only been in the country for 15 minutes!
The Windhoek Country Club Resort is our hotel for the night and bedrooms have been prepared early so we are able to settle in and relax. This evening we enjoy the sumptuous hotel buffet together with wine courtesy of Furlongs Travel. Is it possible the guests are being lulled into a false sense of happiness? Quite possibly. We are about to announce that we depart at 7.30am tomorrow!
