This tour includes 3 breakfasts and 2 dinners in New York, and full board meals on MV Fram. In New York we plan to dine as-the-locals-do, enjoying our breakfasts in local diners, and dinners in local restaurants. On board MV Fram, breakfasts and lunches are buffet style, and dinners may be a variety of set, three course meals or buffets. The food on board ship is typically Norwegian in style and breakfasts will feature cold meats, cheese, eggs, cereals and fruit, plus a hot selection, and tea and coffee. Lunch is the famous Smorgasbord, a wonderful buffet selection of hot and cold dishes. Dinner is a three-course set menu or buffet. Set dinner menus are advertised in advance and you may request an alternative dish if you prefer. The Hurtigruten ships are fully licensed and the wine and bar prices on board are based on Norwegian Kroner and likely to be more expensive than the UK. There are usually wine packages available at the beginning of each cruise, and these may offer better-value. The ship restaurant will be delighted to assist with any allergies and special diets, but please be sure to let us know well in advance of travel.
The local currency is of course the US Dollar for most of our itinerary, and the Canadian Dollar in Halifax. We'll circulate details of a foreign currency service nearer the tour date. Most major credit and debit cards will be welcome in shops, at our New York hotel and on board MV Fram.
- Passports and Visas
If your passport describes you as a "British Citizen" and you have an e-Passport, you should be able to secure an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) through the U.S. Visa Waiver Programme, which allows travel to the USA for up to 90 days. We are happy to apply for your ESTA on your behalf, and cover the ESTA cost within our tour package price. Since we’ll be arriving into Canada by sea, there is currently no requirement to apply for a Canadian visitor visa in advance. NB: An e-Passport has an embedded electronic chip. You can readily identify an e-Passport, because it has a unique international symbol on the cover. NB:The USA no longer permits UK visitors to enter using a non-biometric passport.

- Singles/Twin Shares
Some ship cabins and hotel rooms may be available for sole occupancy. These are generally standard twin cabins and double hotel rooms capable of accommodating two people and therefore a single supplement will be payable. For single accommodation we are obliged to check availability with our suppliers at the time of enquiry and accommodation is therefore subject to availability. If you are travelling alone but may be happy to share we will be pleased to help you find a sharer as we often get similar requests. With your permission, we'll put you in touch with a potential twin-sharer before you commit so you can have a chat and report back! There's no obligation at any stage.
