- Airport Hotel and Parking
We are happy to advise and book overnight hotel accommodation and/or car parking at Heathrow, other UK airports and rail stations.
Initial tour details are shown and costs have been calculated, based on existing EU travel requirements and tax arrangements. Although changes are not expected for travel taking place in the proposed Brexit Transition Period up to 31st December 2020, Furlongs Travel reserves the right to amend the tour and/or pass on additional taxes or levies incurred as a direct impact of Brexit. However, costs will not change due to exchange rate movements.
- Deposit and Payment Terms
The first deposit, due upon booking, is £750 per person. A second deposit of £750 per person is due by 18th April 2020. The balance is due 90 days before departure.
- Financial Protection
If you choose an air-inclusive package, it will be 100% financially protected by the ATOL scheme. In this regard, when you make a booking and payment you will be supplied with a Booking Confirmation and an ATOL Certificate. Please check to ensure that everything you booked is listed on these documents. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information click here to visit the CAA ATOL website. If you book a rail-inclusive package for this tour you will be 100% financially protected by Uniworld River Cruises Ltd by way of a bond held by ABTA.
We plan to escort a flight schedule between London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle, with a mid-to-late morning departure from Heathrow on Sunday 18th October 2020, and a late-afternoon/early-evening return to Heathrow on Sunday 25th October 2020. These flights are not yet in airline booking range, but we'll most likely choose British Airways for this itinerary. Should you wish to fly from your local UK airport, we're happy to help select and book your preferred flight itinerary. Independent flights will, of course, be unescorted, but local transfers in Paris will be included. Independent flight schedules are subject to availability and may cost more. Please enquire if you'd like a quote.
As an alternative to flying, we're also offering the option to travel by Eurostar to and from Paris, and Standard Class Eurostar tickets are a no-extra-cost option for this holiday. We contemplate a mid-morning departure from St Pancras on Sunday 18th October 2020, and a mid-to-late-afternoon return to St Pancras Sunday on 25th October 2020. The schedules for Ebbsfleet and Ashford trains are yet to be confirmed, but may be similar. Eurostar service from St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord Station generally takes under 2.5 hours, and the current advice is to arrive 45-60 minutes prior to your train time to complete customs and security checks. Local transfers between Paris Gard du Nord Train Station and our ship will be included. Subject to numbers, a Furlongs Travel staff member may accompany the train trip from St Pancras. We're happy to answer any questions you may have about the train option, and you may also care to visit the Eurostar website for general information - click here.
Please consult your GP or local travel clinic for appropriate health information and vaccination advice. Our local clinic recommends primary courses and boosters up to date as recommended for life in Britain, but please remember we are a travel company and not experts in health advice so we recommend you consult your local GP or health clinic, show them the holiday brochure and indicate the places you will be visiting. Your GP is most familiar with your personal medical history and is best qualified to determine your particular needs.
For further information on vaccination requirements, health outbreaks and general disease protection and prevention you may care to visit the NaTHNaC (National Travel Health Network and Centre) website (click here) and/or NHS Scotland’s Fit for Travel (click here).

It is strongly recommended you have travel insurance to ensure you are covered for the costs and expenses of unexpected cancellation, illness and losses. To book any of our holidays outside the UK it is a condition of booking that you have adequate travel insurance including medical cover and repatriation. Please also bear in mind for this holiday that the validity of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) may change as a result of Brexit, so make sure you select your travel insurance cover wisely.

Unlimited beverages are also included onboard, including wines, beers, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, juices, cappuccinos, lattes, espresso, filter coffee, teas and mineral water. Also included in this tour is one lunch ashore and an onboard reception exclusively for Furlongs Travel guests. Furlongs Travel and Uniworld are pleased to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies and special requests subject only to local conditions and availability of ingredients, but please let us know well in advance. We will do our very best to assist you.
- Mobile telephones - Tablets - Internet
International GSM roaming is widely available throughout France. Complimentary Internet and Wi-Fi is available on board, subject to the normal caveat that Internet and Wi-Fi reception, speed and quality cannot be guaranteed.
- Money matters
The day-to-day currency on board S.S. Joie de Vivre and ashore will be the Euro. Most major credit cards are accepted by our ship and ashore.
- Passports / Visas
Currently, your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay, but you do not need any additional period of validity beyond this. If your passport describes you as a British Citizen you currently do not need a visa. If you have another type of British nationality or are not of British nationality please check your entry requirements. The rules for travel to most countries in Europe will change if there’s a no-deal Brexit. If your adult passport was issued over 9 years ago, you may be affected.
